Marondera Municipality received a mere 1 percent of the total devolution funds allocation for 2024.
This amounted to a paltry ZWG 248,000 out of ZWG 4.1 million.
As a result, this has restricted the municipality’s ability to undertake development projects.
According to the 2025 budget statement, the municipality’s total projected budget for 2024 was ZWG 4.1 million.
However, the disbursements covered only 8%.
“The funds were utilized to purchase materials for the upgrade of Councils water reticulation system.
“The total projected for 2024 is ZWG 4.1 million and the disbursement will cover only 8%.
“Total devolution allocation received is only 1% of the total budget,” reads part of the statement.
The municipality had ambitious development targets for 2024.
These included improving the education sector by constructing classroom blocks at Cherutombo High.
That required a budget of USD $178,943.64 and yet no disbursement made.
Under health, Council wanted to build Cherutombo Clinic, with a budget of USD $276,000.
Maronder also intends to construct a new rank valued at US$139,000.
