Standing committees enable a council to delegate decision-making on issues to smaller groups of elected members.
These members investigate issues in more depth and in consultation with citizens.
A standing committee considers matters that are referred to it, and reports to the council with or without a recommendation.
Recently, Harare reconstituted its Standing Committees, appointing new Chairpersons, as follows;
Sports and Arts, Councillor Stanley Manyenga

Business, Councillor Rufaro Matsika

Audit, Councillor Womberai Nhende

Information and Publicity, Councillor Kudzai Kadzombe

Housing and social services, Councillor Blessing Muroyiwa

Human Resources and General Purposes, Councillor George Mujajati

Finance and Development, Councillor Jubilation Shoko

Environmental Management, Councillor Temary Utete
