The Deputy Chief Secretary for Presidential Communications George Charamba says government will install commissions if CCC continues boycotting its duties.

The warning follows reports that CCC councilors in Chinhoyi have begun disengaging from council affairs.

A Works and Planning Committee meeting meant for Thursday failed to happen after the members absconded.

The 8-member Works and Planning Committee is chaired by Ward 1 Councillor Good Sairos.

It also comprises Vice Chairman Ninion Verandeni, Busani Dube (Ward 13), David Malunga (Ward 8) and Dyke Makumbi (Ward 12).

Other members are Deputy Mayor Chipo Mlotshwa, Proportional Representative (PR) Councillors Dorcas Marunga (CCC) and Zanu PF’s Ruth Chikukwa.

Chinhoyi Municipality spokesperson, Tichaona Mlauzi confirmed that only three councillors attended.

“There were three members (present),” Mlauzi said without elaborating.

These include Mlotshwa and Makumbi both of CCC and Chikukwa of Zanu PF.

Commission Loading

However Charamba, posting on social media, said government wouldn’t be ruffled by such antics.

“It’s no longer biting the nose to spite the face only but the whole heart.

“Chinhoyi Government Commission loading.

“Vatigonera,” he said in a clear insinuation of plans for a commission to replace the councilors.

The opposition says it is disengaging in response to the arbitrary recalling of 15 MPs and 17 Councilors.

These were recalled in response to an alleged dubious letter by a self-styled Secretary General for CCC Sengezo Tshabangu.

CCC says it doesn’t have an SG and accuses ZANU PF of crafting the plan.

However, other sources say that Tshabangu is a product of internal squabbles in CCC.
