Government Splashes $294K on Marondera Roads

Government has managed to spend US$294 000 rehabilitating Marondera roads under the Emergency Road Rehabilitation Programme 2 (ERRP2).

The local authority also funded four roads using internal funds.

Details of the arrangement were revealed by Local Government Minister Daniel Garwe during the commissioning of new equipment.

“Under the roads programme I was advised Council managed to tar ten roads.

“(This was) courtesy of the Zinara ERRP2 funding the project to the tune of $294,144.18 USD.

“The following roads were tarred: Rusununguko Avenue, Manyame Crescent, Mwendamberi Way, Field Way, Rukodzi Street, Dimba Avenue, Mutiti Crescent, Winsor Avenue, Mutufu Street and Morningside Crescent,” he said.

Council also funded four roads through Estates Funds.

These are Chitepo Extension Road, Ruzawi West Road, Ruzawi West Road and Chitepo Ext. Main Road.

“The total costs of the road works amounted to $39,249.27 USD.”

Government launched the ERRP2 to rehabilate roads in cities and towns after realizing that local authority were failing to maintain roads.
