Five members of a bogus housing scheme who were arrested by Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission for defrauding 250 home-seekers of more than US$ 200 000 were denied bail.
The five members are Tinomudaishe Muraicho and Tafira Makochekeranwa co-directors of Swandev Pvt Ltd.
They are together with Home-seekers for ED deputy Chairperson Farai Nyandoro who is also former Mayor for Marondera.
The other two are Pastors for ED Chairperson Tichaona Murundu and Rant Dutoit Pvt LTD co-directors Special Magirazi.
The gang allegedly conspired to subdivide a portion of Elmwood Farm belonging to Marondera Municipality.
They sold the residential stands to unsuspecting home-seekers.
The Home-seekers for ED and Swandev took advantage of Council preparations of the land na susurped the process to allocate stands.
Upon realizing that council is at advance stage the gang created housing scheme which duped about 250 home-seekers.
The syndicate allegedly collected a US$50 registration fee and additional deposit of US$500 for stand allocations.
Magistrate Christian Chikengezha denied them bail and postponed the case to 17 September.
The accused were represented by Lawyer John Ndotenga of Maphosa and Ndomene Associates.
