Currently, statistics from the Zimbabwe Statistical Agency indicate that the country has an urban population of around 35 percent of the total population.
This has meant that the number of people in need of houses or stands has continued to grow.
Harare City Council periodically provides cheaper stands which one can get by getting on their waiting list.
For one to get a stand from Harare City Council there are some mandatory requirements.
Here are some of the requirements:
- You must be a resident of Harare who is working formally/informally within Harare
- You must be at least be 18 years of age
- You can only apply if you do not own any other property within Harare, Norton, Ruwa or Chitungwiza
- In the event that you are married (custom/civil) to more than one wife your second and subsequent wives can also apply for their own stand but if you only have one wife you can only apply for one stand jointly.
How to apply
To apply you must go and download the application form from the Harare City Council website. You will see the same requirements we listed above.
One has to attach copies of their national ID as well as Marriage Certificate.
This is your normal straight forward form like the ones you have been filling all your life as each slot you have to fill up is pretty much self-explanatory.
Just make sure you select the Stand Waiting List option.
Once you have completed the form you should visit any Harare City Council district office to pay your application fees.
After you have made the payment you can then take the filled form and receipt of payment to the council offices at 2 Remberance Drive for processing.
You will then be issued with a waiting list number.
