Kadoma has beefed up its service fleet after acquiring a refuse compactor, a UD truck and two ambulances, at a total cost of US$240 000.
However, while the compactor, truck and one ambulance are brand new, the other ambulance isn’t.
The revelation was made by Mayor, Cllr Nigel Ruzario who praised his council for the acquisitions.
“I can confirm we have acquired a compactor from Croco Motors, a UD truck and two well conditioned ambulances.
“One ambulance is brand new and the other is an old one that we took for repairs and customization.
“We forked out US$127 270 for the compactor, US$70 000 was spent on the UD.
Ruzario said the new ambulance was purchased at a total cost of US$36 000.
“We bought a Toyota GD6 vehicle for US$22 000 on the market.
“For it to function as an ambulance, council then had to convert, at dealers, which gobbled US$14 000.
Refurbishments on the old ambulance cost almost US$4 000.”
Cllr Ruzario said the compactor, UD truck and those two ambulances are already serving the community.
The new vehicles follow after another donation of a commuter omnibus donated by Kadoma Central MP Gift Mambipiri.
Mambipiri handed the vehicle to the City Health Department for use in combating cholera.
