Eight Norton Councillors have found themselves in the eye of the storm after attending the latest Chitepo School of Ideology lecture.
The Cllrs are Cllr Sigudu (PR) , Cllr Chaumba (PR), Cllr Gomo (PR) and Cllr Marokwe from Ward 8.
Cllr Moyana (Ward 1), Cllr Munemo (Ward 11), Cllr Mujeyi (Ward 5) and Cllr Marokwe (Ward 8) complete the list.
Their attendance was against a party directive recently issued by the CCC spokesperson Promise Mkwananzi.
Mkwananzi, who was responding to a government plan to make the lectures mandatory said their Cllrs would not take part.
“The party’s position as adopted by CNA is that our deployees should not attend any programmes affiliated to another political party.
“Reference is being made in relation to the latest coercive invitation that has been made by the Ministry of Local Government for CCC councillors to attend Zanu PF School of Ideology’s training programmes.
“As per the title of the institution, the programmes are informed by Zanu PF ideologies.
“Our party does not subscribe to and our deployees are, therefore, guided accordingly,” he said.
The friction follows moves which have been made by Government.
During a recent Parliamentary sitting, Justice Minister Ziyambi proposed that all elected Cllrs and MPs should attend the Chitepo School.
However, opponents of the idea argue that the institution is part of Zanu PF’s indoctrination strategy.
