Ndemera Arrested in Prison As New Charges Resurface

Jailed former Council Finance Director Stanley Ndemera was arrested again by ZACC over new accusations of abusing office.

“ZACC, on Wednesday, arrested former Finance Director for Harare City Council, Stanley Ndemera for Criminal Abuse of Duty as a public officer.

Ndemera allegedly sold wetland to Vifot Investments (Pvt) Ltd.

The land, measuring 23 9688 hectares in 2019 was sold at a cost of ZWL91 679 130.00 without following due process.

Ndemera was picked from prison where he is serving the 6 year sentence.

Previous Case

Ndemera is already serving a prison sentence together with former chamber secretary Charles Kandemiri.

They were both previously convicted on charges of criminal abuse of office.

They were sentenced to an effective 6 years each.

The court heard that they sold the council-owned Mt Pleasant Sports Club in Vainona, without following procedure.

The stand was sold to Hardspec Investments for $23 923 340 while the club was quoted at US$2,3 million.

Ndemera and Kandemiri were charged alongside former mayor Herbert Gomba and town clerk Hosea Chisango.

The latter two were however acquitted on the same charge.
