After pressure from Central Government Harare has re-engaged its former partner Quill Associates to provide an Enterprise Resource System (ERP).
Finance Committee Chairperson Cllr Costa Mande revealed the new development during a press conference on Tuesday.
“The Ministry had said we have not complied with the Auditor General’s recommendation to re-engage with the previous ERP system.
“Therefore on April 30th we had a Special Council where we resolved to re-engage Quill Associates, the implementers of BIQ.
“I would safely say up to today BIQ are on site.
“We already have 10 core modules that they have installed and we are good to go.
Mande said all the necessary infrastructure to implement BIQ is now in place.
However, the Cllr said Council still needs to upgrade its equipmemt as most of it is now outdated.
“We shall do that in the 3rd quarter to upgrade and upscale the operations of the system,” he said.
ERP is a software system used by councils to manage their operations and core business.
Harare dumped its ERP system in 2019 after the South African company demanded payment in foreign currency.
Since then it has been operating with no system leading to a financial crisis.
This has lately resulted in Government refusing to approve its 2024 budget until the issue was dealt with.
