Marondera Banks On Private Sector in US$37M Budget for 2025

Marondera Municipality has presented a USD$ 34.7 million budget for 2025 focusing on resuscitation of water and its sewer system infrastructure.

Finance Chairperson Cllr Hilton Chipashu said capital budget is pegged at USD$ 20.7 million while revenue budget is pegged at USD$ 14 million.

Cllr Chipashu said the council is going to give priority to resuscitation of water and sewer system infrastructure.

“Council will continue to give priority to resuscitation of water and sewer system infrastructure for 2025 budget year”.

“The expansion of the water treatment plant remains a top priority by council.

“(This is so as) to reduce the burden on rate payers.

Tapping Into Corporate Sector

“The project funding is earmarked from the Estates Account and Public-Private Partnerships,” he said.

Cllr Chipashu added that the budget shows a growth of 20% in revenue due to increased statistics.

The inclusion of PPPs will also drive up Council’s cpital investments by nearly 100%.

In 2024 the capital budget was at USD$ 10, 409,761.58.

In 2025 it will be at USD$ 20, 757, 839.84 which translates to a 99% increment.
