An Enterprise Resource Planning contractor engaged to set up the system will be on the ground by 30 June.
This was revealed by the Town Clerk Hosiah Chisango during the May Full Council meeting.
However the contractor was not named.
The engagement of the contractor follows years of the Council IT department failing to deal with the matter.
Last month Mayor Mafume berated the Head of Information Technology, William Mugobogobo for failing to implement the system four years after its adoption.
“You are sitting on a thing (ERP) that has prevented us from getting a budget.
“You have caused us immense damage as a council with your department.
“Our billing is in shambles, we cannot communicate with customers something that a university does on a cellphone.
The City of Harare has been without a functional, transparent and accountable billing system since March 2019.
This was after a supplier of its Enterprise Resource Planning System, Quill Associates withdrew its software following a contractual wrangle.
In 2023, the Auditor General revealed that the absence of the ERP could have prejudiced the city of approximately US$190 million.
The money could not be verified in the Council’s books and is suspected to have increased over time.
