The government has approved the appointment of Rinashe Nyamuzihwa as the substantive Marondera Town Clerk after conclusion of its interviews.

Nyamuzihwa is currently the acting Town Clerk for the town.

The Local Government Board (LGB) revealed that Nyamuzihwa was better qualified for the position.

“Two out of three candidates who were forwarded to the Local Government Board were interviewed and one did not come to the interview.

“After thorough deliberations and taking everything into account, the LGB was satisfied that Mr Rinashe Nyamuzihwa had a distinct edge above the other candidate in terms of experience and exposure,” it said.

The LGB revealed that in the case that Nyamuzihwa declined the position Marondera will have to re-advertise the post.

The appointment of Nyamuzihwa is with immediate effect from the date of assumption of duty.

Nyamuzihwa has been acting town clerk since 2020 when Josiah Musuwo retired.

The other candidates were John Kachingwe, Marondera town finance director and Murehwa RDC chief executive officer Dr Alois Gurajena.
