Marondera Municipality Councilors are angry at Council after being sold rotten meat during the last festive season.

The councilors have since unanimously demanded a ‘refund’ from council.

According to the councilors they were embarrassed after each of them got a portion of rotten meat.

Speaking during the full council meeting, councillors compelled the local authority to urgently address the issue.

They are demanding fresh meat or refunds.

“The councillors complained that the meat sold to them was rotten and demanded a refund.

“The Town Clerk referred the issue to Finance and General Purposes committee to deliberate on the issue,” read full council minutes.

Council employees and councillors are allowed to buy beef from the local authority at a subsidized price with each beneficiary expected to buy not more than 10kgs of meat.

The local authority has cattle at its Elmswood Farm as part of its income generating projects.
