The David Coltart-led Bulawayo City Council has been urged to service Blair toilets mainly used by over 90% in Cowdray Park.
The situation has been made dire by the recent outbreak of cholera across the country.
Ward 6 Councillor Nkosilathi Hove told a recent Full Council meeting that the situation is bad.
“In terms of hygiene in Bulawayo, we should always bear in mind that there is Cowdray Park which uses Blair toilets.
“May there be efforts to clear and clean up the waste in those already full toilets.
“It’s now a health hazard and soon the diseases will flood Bulawayo from Cowdray Park.
Hove said local residents are willing to pay for assistance from Council to deal with the matter.
“Residents are desperate,” he added.
Cowdray Park Population
According to the 2022 census preliminary results, Cowdray Park has a population of 75 070.
This makes it the second most populous urban ward in the country.
The first is Harare’s Ward 42, Budiriro which has 89 287 and is already a hotspot for cholera.
