The Harare City Council has begun accepting payments for illegal stands which were approved for regularisation.
This was revealed by the Chairperson of the Education, Health, Housing and Licensing Committee Clr Blessing Duma.
“Today we sat as the joint Environmental Management Committee and Housing Committee to consider the progress of the regularisation process.
“We considered the cases of various schemes.
“They include Kugarika Kushinga, Mabvuku-Tafara, New Heights, Evergreen, Kubuda Kwezuva, Star Shine Phase 3,4 and 5, Rand du Toit, Highserve and Horizon, Wenera and Tanga Tasara Pay Schemes.
“We also made progress on the regularisation of home industries and commercial stands that are towards the houses of Rand du Toit.
“Therefore, we have mandated our council officials to begin accepting payments for intrinsic value, payments for plans, building and any other improvements that have been made on the land.
Duma said in Mabvuku-Tafara they had finished the consideration of all the pay schemes.
He said they will not be considering any other areas outside those mentioned.
In the future Council officials will also be touring areas in Budiriro, Hatfield, Waterfalls, Churu Farm and Glen View.
The tour is meant to inform them about any other areas that should be regularised.
