Equipment and material worth over US$50 000 was lost by Kadoma Council in 2022 due to both negligence and theft.
This was revealed by the Auditor General Rhea Kujinga in the latest report on councils.
According to Kujinga Kadoma lost 800 bags of cement worth over US$15 000 as a result of solidification.
The council also lost “inventory and equipment worth US$33 000 to theft,” the report said.
Meanwhile, Redcliff Municipality could “not account for 109 boxes of floor tiles which were meant to rehabilitate Bell Medical Centre.
Cases of theft were rampant among the audited city and town councils leading to suspicions that officials may be complicit.
The AG said service delivery issues have also been rising over the years.
“I reported 33 in 2021 and 41 in 2022.
“There were cases of sewer challenges in Victoria Falls City, Masvingo City, Bindura Municipality, Hwange Local Board, Ruwa Local Board and Chitungwiza Municipality.
