The Ministry of Local Government last week approved 88 out of the 92 Local Authority budgets for 2023 after a week long process in Gweru.
In a statement, Minister July Moyo said four Councils needed to relook at their proposals.
“The Minister and his staff have been undertaking a rigorous process of budget analysis and approval for the 92 Local Authorities in the country .
“The process went on for the whole week including Saturday and Sundays where it started from the 3rd to the 10th of January.
“The Minister has approved all budgets except four,” the statement said.
“The four Councils whose budgets were not approved are Murehwa, Lupane, Karoi and Binga”
Murehwa RDC will meet the Permanent Secretary to relook into their budget.
All 2023 budget tariffs have been captured in both US$ and ZWL to allow councils to track the exchange rate movement in line with the SI 185 of 2020 over the whole year.
According to the Ministry, most councils proposed standstill budgets except for a few who have made increases.
