Tshabangu’s Candidate Drags CCC Councillors To Court, Again!
By Correspondent
A losing councillor from Sengezo Tshabangu‘s Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) camp Lovemore Munyamana has dragged Nelson Chamisa‘s councillors to court seeking that they be removed from office.
Munyamana filed his papers at the Bulawayo Electoral Court early this week. He is arguing that Donaldson Mabutho, Tinovimbo Maposa and Bruce Moyo should be removed from office.
He argues that they won the 9 December 2023 by-elections while illegally contesting as CCC members.
Nelson Chamisa’s Citizens Coalition for Change camp has confirmed the existence of the case.
“Sengezo Tshabangu tortoises (are seeking) the Electoral Court to nullify the 9 December 2023 election of popular City of Bulawayo Ward 9, 21 and 22 councillors. These are Councillors Donaldson Mabutho, Tinovimbo Maposa and Bruce Mmeli Moyo.
“Tortoises argue that after the trio’s expulsion from CCC, participation in the Nomination Court and subsequent by-elections was irregular, illegal and contrary to an extant judgement.
“Tortoises want Ward 9, 21 and 22 elections nullified and by-elections proclaimed for same,” it said.
This latest scenario is only the latest in a long running saga within Citizens Coalition for Change.
To avert the same situation some recalled CCC Councillors have since registered for upcoming by-elections as independent candidates.
