Self imposed Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) interim Secretary General Sengezo Tshabangu has recalled Marondera mayor Abel Nyakarombo and his deputy Bornface Tagwireyi.

Nyakarombo was the Ward 8 councillor while Tagwireyi won the August 23 election as Ward 3 councillor.

Also recalled were Ward 10 councillor Thompson Magaluwa, Dephne Nyatondo (PR) and Nancy Mutizwa (PR).

In a letter dated November 13, Local Government acting Minister Daniel Garwe confirmed the latest developments.

“I wish to inform you that I am in receipt of a letter from the CCC stating that the following councillors have ceased to be members of the CCC political party.

“In terms of Section 278 (1) of the Constitution of Zimbabwe, as read with Section (1)(K) the above mentioned wards are now vacant,” said Garwe.

The Nelson Chamisa-led CCC won nine of the twelve wards in the August 23 harmonised elections.
