Harare Town Clerk Hosiah Chisango, has warned land barons using his name in bogus deals that he is coming after them.
Addressing Council’s senior managers, Chisango said land barons and officials name dropping him or anyone else will face the law.
“Those fond of using my name or names of other senior officials in corrupt practices must stop forthwith.
“I urge anyone who may have fallen victim to these corrupt officials to directly come and make a report to me.
“We can not tolerate a situation where corrupt individuals use my name and office to steal land from council.
“To the officials in the practice of land grab and abuse of office, let me warn them that we will descend on them.
“Corruption destroys our image and poisons our brand Harare,” he said.
Chisango was arrested in 2020 on accusations of corruption involving land.
He was being implicated in the illegal creation and allocation of stands on an open space in Kuwadzana.
The crime was committed in 2019 with land sold without going through the legal process of changing land use.
However, Chisango was later cleared of any crime and returned to work.
