The acidic Hip Hop genre, atop which Holy 10 sits, will soon fizz out into nothingness and with it Holy’s trending.
It’s the nature of the genre from eons back with Mau Mau, Kingpinn down to Jnr Brown teasing success and ultimately fading out.
Hip Hop as a culture, in our economic environment, has no staying power to procreate something useful.
It’s teenage masturbation; seedy and ultimately sad.
Borrowed Robes
However, in the interim, Holy 10’s imperious and arrogant reign is a buffet of lessons for an emaciated Harare Council.
Pliant against circumstances and economic hazards Council has become a doddering entity susceptible to anything, lacking creative arrogance to survive.
Holy 10 has shown plenty of that creativity and arrogance.
It has held him good and steady against the murderous wave of pro-opposition and Winky D’s fanatical masses.
At any given time he has a song trending on YouTube.
With nearly 20 million streams he had the second best year in 2023 after Jah Prayzah.
Guess who came third? Bigman!
10 has managed to creatively hit the market with toxic statements sandwiched between hit songs.
In-between the bile-rising anger and helpless admiration many have stalked his accounts and channels eating from his hands.
His success is against the political and social inclinations of many.
Impotent City Fathers
It’s an ability which Harare Council has failed to nurture and grow.
The level of services, neither cheap to assuage hurting pockets nor expensive but available to massage hopeful dreamers, is a shoddy job all around.
Council has failed to harness the financial opportunities abounding through the various informal trading places such as Coca Cola and Mupedzanhamo.
Instead, political factions have taken over and are in charge of everything.
The same has happened with bus ranks such as Copacabana.
As we reported earlier rank marshals have taken over and are grossing thousands each month.
It has had to take a collaboration with ZRP to try and wrestle away control.
The many initiatives to control the traffic jungle has also been bequeathed to another collaborative enterprise.
However, most disturbing has been the absence of arrogance to run the shown properly as the City Fathers.
While too much of it could be coarse and grating, just enough to assert control is warranted.
None has been shown to a point where few residents are paying their rates.
They even boast about it.Council is currently owed billions and has exhibited no balls to get its money.
This whimsical impotence in the face of flagrant disobedience by residents is the ultimate contradiction to Holy 10’s nascent progression, built on creativity and arrogance, to Hip Hop royalty.
