The Ministry of Local Government and Public Works has ordered Marondera Council to unveil low density residential stands to 7 Members of Parliament (MPs) from Mashonaland East Province.

In a letter dated October 1 addressed to the Town Clerk and signed by the Ministry’s Permanent Secretary Zvinechimwe Churu, the legislators are benefitting the stands under the Members of Parliament Scheme.

“This letter serves to notify you that the mentioned MPs are desirous of being allocated low density stands in Marondera under the Members of Parliament Scheme.

“Currently, the Ministry of Local Government and Public Works does not have any low density stands in Marondera.

“Hence, we are requesting your council assist them in being allocated low density stands under the above scheme.

The legislators include Brightness Mangora (Marondera PR), Richard Musiyiwa (Mutoko East), Jonah Sewera (Zanu PF Murewa West), Jane Chifamba (MDC-T Marondera Senator), Rambidzai Nyabote (Zanu PF Mutoko North), Yvonne Musarurwa (MDC-T PR Harare) and Caston Matewu (CCC Marondera Central).

However, some CCC councillors in Marondera are refuting the move to allocate stands arguing that those from outside Marondera should get residential stands in their respective areas.
