Divisions have emerged among Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) councillors in Marondera Central as four of them are eying the mayoral post.
The opposition party won the majority after grabbing nine of the 12 wards.
The other three all went to Zanu PF.
However, Open Council is reliably informed the elected CCC councillors met in Dombotombo High Density Suburb last week where they deliberated on the issue of posts.
They also discussed as to who should lead committees.
Four of the councillors revealed interests in going for the mayoral post.
The are Abel Nyakarombo (Ward 8), former mayor Chengetai Murowa (Ward 1), Size Vilela (Ward 11) and Cephas Mazambani (Ward 6).
In the meeting, it is reported that the councilors resolved to allocate themselves ‘crucial’ committees among them Finance and Human Resources.
“A meeting was held in Dombotombo where the councillors allocated themselves commitees as well as deliberating as who is to become the mayor.
About four councillors are eying for the mayoral post hence the divisions,” said a top CCC official who attended the meeting.
However, Councillors Nyakarombo and Murova are reportedly leading the race ahead of two others.
The duo have been on record declaring their interests in contesting for the mayoral post.
